This sound was made using my own computer, but also my fridge and the fan in my bathroom. This sound is part of a college project, but can be used by anyone.

I was playing about in absynth and massive and with some samples this evening. Came up with this nice atmosphere. It made me think of a dark / menacing computer room somewhere in the future.

Designed with malstroem and basic 64. Malstroem. Graintable synthesis with "random" lfos and a freeware synth called basic 64, that is often used for the reproduction of c64 sounds. But here, the patch sounds like tools. It's a different synthesis, similar to the subtractive synthesis, but not as easy to handle as e. G. A minimoog synth or a prophet 5.

I make with very old radio station microphone on apple computer. Some adjusters work, some do not. I try long time. Crazy sound!.

This recording is inspired by alienxxx http://freesound. Org/people/alienxxx/sounds/345510/made a little patch on my modular, still missing its (main) oscillators. I let the patch sound thru a pair of cheap computer speakers that i use as monitors. In an adjacent room, close to an open window, i put my phone and record. This is the unedited outcome. The recording was made 09:00 (16-05-11). Unfortunately nothing happened outside the window. Even the birds was quiet. I think there is a hint of feedback in the sound? first i planned to record with an old tape recorder, but i couldn’t find it. . . I think this recording should be listened to with low volume. May by it was a mistake to amplify the sound in audacity? but i think there is a nice room ambiance to the recording. Ideas for next time. Use guitar amp. Find old tape recorder. My computer starting up and shutting down in a quiet room around 11:30 pm. This thing has a solid-state drive of 120gb that is used to boot up windows 7 pro, and a wd green 500gb hard drive that is used to store nearly all my games, and tons of other large (compilations of) files including my five nights fangame files. This was recorded on the night of 4th september 2022, at 11:30 pm. As i am writing this, it's 11:12 am, monday, 5th september. This is my computer starting up and shutting down. (before you scold me for using a weak-ass computer, here are the specs and goodies). Yet i pulled up the gain, so it might not have been noticeable in real life.

Untreated room (hence dynamic mic) but noise remoived with audacity. I needed this for my own purposes so i thought i'd upload it. I hope someone finds it useful :).

A recording of a high school class. Students were working on a sound effects project on computers, but generally allowed to talk as they worked. This is maybe 18 students, with the mic about 10 feet away from the nearest student, mic towards one side of the room, pointed towards the middle. We also have ac on, and an av cart that has a fan on, plus a wall clock, some of which you may not be able to hear over the students. Mic was the zoom h1 set to record a wav file, record level manual, low pass filter engaged, with the quality settings at the highest values. It was then put through audacity to amplify it to the highest allowable levels without distorting, and spit out as a wav.

Hi, i recorded this sound especially because i couldn't find any good quality keyboard typing sounds. I used my kit (zoom h5 and rode videomic pro) to capture the sound while my friend was typing. I used the microphone from 15-20 cm far from the soubject and the room was small (around 15sqm), so reverb wasn't an issue. Ambient sound akin to the bridge of a starship. Muted background hum with an overtone of air conditioning ducts. Pseudo-random high pitched blips occupy the soundstage. Could be used as an ambient sound loop for hi-tech / science fiction interiors such as a laboratory, a control room, or the bridge of a spacecraft. Created with two instances of flstudio 3x osc. One kicking out a pair of sinewaves plus noise for the background susurus (hum) and ventilation sound. Second 3x osc is set to produce two interfereing square waves for the blips, squeaks and buzzes. The background was notch filtered and bandpassed to mellow out the humming sound and reduce hiss. The blips were processed with flstudio equo, stereo enhance, fruity delay2 and fl pan-o-matic vst. Each blip was pasted by hand in a seemingly random but not too unpleasant pattern.

Brief mechanical motor and clicking noises followed by the famed sustained f sharp major chord (detuned 30 cents flat) being projected over low quality, built-in speakers. Mechanical noise has defined pitch and is predominantly in the mid-high frequencies. Recorded on zoom h2n, in small, empty room. Audio clip normalized in post-processing.

An actual new production instead of old stuff! made in june of 2020. A dark intro implies the humming engines of the spaceship you're in as you're traveling at speeds unimaginable. Slowly the ship starts to spring to life. As you open your eyes, slow but huge bands of light sweeps across your cryogenic sleeping pod, as if being scanned. The pod starts to move while you're still in it, going through chambers filled with machinery and bleeping computer stations, until it stops in front of a huge closed door.
